Defining the Terms in the Bible
If we don’t define the words of our scriptures, the way that they were written, we’re going to redefine them. Henry would be rolling over for you to his grave by incorporating of the definitions we may have given these words. We need to define the bible the way it had been written.
How many know that there are two things that didn’t exist in the 1st century? The first century cathedral as it is today, the actual Christian church and the New Testament. What that means occurs when Paul says throughout Timothy that all scriptures have been offered for rebuking, encouraging, doctoring, and also walking in the strategies to righteousness. The word “all scriptures” there are not able to mean the New Testament. I believe in the New Testament scripture but that is not what he was talking to. He was referring to the Old Testament, what he called the Hebrew Scriptures or just the scriptures.
The value that they put on the particular Old Testament is off the charts. It is the only term of God that been with us. So if we are going to determine any bible words, guess what happens, you are going to get rid of the New Testament for just a moment and define the idea by the only thesaurus that exist at that time that has been their Hebrew Scriptures.
So we will find out what the word lambs means by doing this. We are going to go back to his or her dictionary, the Old Testament here is what it says, but first we are going to talk about a few New Testament verses before all of us comeback and establish it.
John 10:3 says this, “The watchman opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by his name and leads them out.”
John 10:4 “When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice.” We have all heard these verses and then a few verses later it says,
John 10:7 “Therefore Jesus said again, ” I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep.” So if that’s the case that we need to know, then who were the sheep? Because he is the gate for them as we continue, we will find out the answer to that along with where did the Sabbath day came from.
Back in Jeremiah 50:17 “Israel is like scattered sheep, the lions have driven Him away.”
I’m Jim Staley. It is my heart’s desire that you will be challenged and transformed through the materials and resources that are in this article. Whether its about Jewish holidays, the sabbath day, or the meaning of Easter, we want you to know the truth because the truth will only do one thing!
